Activities at
Camp Harkness
Camp Harkness is open year round to passholders, however, many of the activities are only available seasonally. Find what there is to do and what times of year certain activities are available here.
Swimming
9am-5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day
Swimming at Camp Harkness is a crowd favorite! During the summer, the water is open for passholders and guests to swim. The lifeguards are available to assist with entering or exiting the water and there are wheelchairs available for day use that allow easy access to the sand and the water.
Explore the Grounds
102 acres of gorgeous woods, marsh, and gardens
While the beach may be a showstopper, there's plenty more to see! Take a stroll on the vehicle-free beach trail, explore our nature trail, and see if you can spot any of the critters that call camp home. Birds, bunnies, butterflies, deer, and many more species may catch your eye.
Visit the Beach
Get a breath of fresh air year-round
While swimming is only available when the lifeguards are at the beach, passholders and guests are welcome to relax on the sand or on the seasonal boardwalk. Folks find some excellent driftwood, sea glass, and other small treasures frequently - if you find any, send us your pictures!
Horticulture Programs
Available seasonally
We offer a wide variety of classes and educational opportunities in our gardens for learning with plant recreation and exploration. Our programs vary based on participants needs and their level of engagement.
If you would like to participate in our gardening activities and classes offered at Camp Harkness please contact us.
Horse Buddy Program
Dates for 2025 to be determined
Join HH Stonewall Community Farm for a session with their horses at the equestrian center. Participants are able to groom, paint, and socialize with the horses and anyone is welcome to visit the barn just to say hi! Please take care not to feed or startle our furry friends.
Annual Events
Spread the word!
See what we have from Fallfest to to Magic of the Faeries! Each year we engage our local community in exciting ways, whether it's craft fairs, celebrating the love of model trains, or hunting for hidden works of art around camp. Many of our annual events are fundraisers supporting the Camp Harkness Foundation directly.
Overnight Stays
Spend a few nights in the charming cabins or tent camping by the beach
Camp Harkness offers 26 cabins and 6 tentsites at peak season. Passholders and organizations may book overnight stays for up to one week at a time, two times per year. Cabins are not available while summer camp is in session! Space is limited, we recommend making reservations at the beginning of the calendar year. The Camp Harkness Foundation does not handle overnight reservations. Contact (860) 443-7818 for more information.
